Song for the Day

I Want to Hear You Sad

these eyes they're strongly covered in disguise
they're waiting on the real time again
you'll see that no one knows for sure

for all of this
i'm better off without you
do you regret so
your loneliness

this ride is drifting slowly to the side
we're swerving off the road
going past the cones that warned us from the start

for all of this
i'm better off without you
do you regret so
your loneliness

for all of this
i'm better off without you
do you regret so
your loneliness

(every day goes, every night goes)
on and on we sing this song
the entire day that's oh so long
every night we sing this song for you

for all of this
i'm better off without you
do you regret so
your loneliness

for all of this
i'm better off without you
do you regret so
your loneliness

A Lifetime

Allie woke up 8AM
Graduation day.
Got into a car,
And crashed along the way.

When we arrived late to the wake,
Stole the urn while they
Looked away,
And drove to the beach
'Cause I knew you'd want it
That way.

And you were standing
On the hood of the car
Singing out loud
When the sun came up.

And I know I wasn't right,
But it felt so good.
And your mother didn't mind,
Like I thought she would.
And that REM song was playing
In my mind.
And three and a half minutes
Felt like a lifetime

It felt like a lifetime

And you move like water
I could drown in you.
And I fell so deep once,
Till you pulled me through

You would tell me
"No one is allowed to be so proud
They never reach out
When they're giving up."

And I know I wasn't right,
But it felt so good.
And your mother didn't mind,
Like I thought she would.
And that REM song was playing
In my mind.
And three and a half minutes
Felt like a lifetime

Are you sitting in the lights?
Or combing your hair again,
And talking in rhymes?
Are you sitting in the lights?

When I got home, heard the phone,
Your parents had arrived.
And your dad set his jaw
Your mom just smiled and sighed.

But they left soon
And I went to my room.
Played that disc that you'd given me,
And I shut my eyes
Swear I could hear the sea.

When we were standing
On the hood of your car
Singing out loud when the sun came up.
And I know I wasn't right,
But it felt so good.
And your mother didn't mind,
Like I thought she would.
And that REM song was playing
In my mind.
And three and a half minutes,
Three and a half minutes,

Felt like a lifetime.

Good Is Good

Good is good and bad is bad
You don’t know which one you had
She put your books out on the sidewalk
Now they’re blowing ‘round
They won’t help you when you’re down

Love’s on your list of things to do
To bring your good luck back to you
And if you think that everything’s unfair
Would you care if you’re the last one standing there

And everytime you hear the rolling thunder
You turn around before the lightening strikes
And does it ever make you stop and wonder
If all your good times pass you by

I don’t hold no mystery
But I can show you how to turn the key
Cause all I know is where I started
So downhearted
And that’s not where you want to be

And everytime you hear the rolling thunder
You turn around before the lightening strikes
And you could find a rock to crawl right under
If all your good times pass you by

When the day is done And the world is sleeping
And the moon is on its way to rise
When your friends are gone
You thought were so worth keeping
You feel you don’t belong
And you don’t know why

And everytime you hear the rolling thunder
You turn around before the lightening strikes
And does it ever make you stop and wonder
If all your good times pass you by

When the day is done
And the world is sleeping
And the moon is on its way to rise
When your friends are gone
You thought were so worth keeping
You feel you don’t belong
Neither do I

The Joker

some people call me the space cowboy
some call me the gangster of love
some people call me maurice
cause I speak with the pompetus of love

people keep talking about me baby
say I'm doing you wrong, doing you wrong
but don't you worry baby, don't you worry mama
cause I'm right here right here right here at home

cause I'm a picker I'm a grinner i'm a lover and I'm a sinner
Playing my music in the sun
I'm a joker I'm a smoker i'm a midnight toker
I sure don't want to hurt no one

you're the cutest thing that I ever did see
I really love your peaches want to shake your tree
lovey dubby dubby lovey dubby all the time
Ooo we baby I'll sure show you a good time
